Philip lives in Birmingham with his wife Charlotte and their two little boys, Thomas and William. Growing up on a farm he has a keen eye for nature, so much so that six chickens now reside at the far end of the garden though strenuous efforts are made to keep them off the vegetable patches.
Philip and Charlotte met whilst they were both studying for a geography degree at Birmingham University. Their early holidays to places such as Iceland, the Lake District and the Canadian Rockies closely resembled geography field trips but for the time being they are content to dig holes on the beach with the children.
Philip is a member of Edgbaston Golf Club and has played golf for Shropshire at U18 and U21 levels as well as for Birmingham University golf team throughout his time there. His golfing ambitions are to play every course that has hosted the British Open and, in many years' time, to score less than his age for 18 holes. When he's not on the golf course he often rows away on his Concept II and competes each year in the British Indoor Rowing Championships.
